After Action Report – Jan 2

Well, we got through yesterday with only football to talk about.  Thank goodness. It would seem as though the SEC domination of college football (Mississippi’s drubbing of Duke notwithstanding) is waning which makes The Chairman very happy.  Well, let me rephrase: the classic schools of the SEC.  The ridiculousness of who is in the SEC is mind numbing.  Texas? Texas A&M? Oklahoma? Are you serious? It’s a mosh pit of Big 12 and the SEC.  Consider the PAC 12 which is now the PAC 2, the Big 10 is now the Annoyingly Big 18 (USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, etc.  Really???) and the Big 12 is now the Bizarro 16.  The Great Chairman Emeritus Alva “Pap” Kelley I am certain is barfing on the state of college football. Good thing we are pretty nimble at PPP!

Thursday’s Games:
Notre Dame 23 Georgia 10
Mississippi 52 Duke 20

Sorry for the angry missive above.  The football on Jan 2 was, as Chairman Jr. says “meh”.  Notre Dame’s defense was pretty stellar while their offense was mediocre.  Alas, they did enough to get to the Final Four dance. As for the  Gator Bowl, there was no bite in the Blue Devils.  Completely outclassed by Ole Miss. Not for nothing but the ACC kinda sucks when it comes to Bowl games – they are a combined 2-10 so far with one game left to go.  Not a good rendering of your football programs. Check the portal for a flood of ACC players looking to head to one of the mega conference teams!!  As an editors note, they are pretty good in soccer!

Our fun little pool keeps plugging along!  David Rubin has yet to relinquish his lead but things are definitely afoot. Ben “I am the son of a Domer” Milano still is punching above his weight hanging in second place along with the stunning Pilar Kelley, beauty and brains – nice! Not giving anything away, but the Final Four in the CFP will likely bring some significant turmoil to the standings. The calculus of all of that is a bit beyond my mental capacity (I was a History major) but what I do know is thing are definitely going to get bumpy in the days ahead. The fight at the bottom of the table is also very intriguing. Taylor Kelley keeps sucking so beautifully but Kacey Glennon had a “good” day yesterday taking both games in the win column.  My guess is that she would not consider that a good day in the scheme of things. Five players are sitting one off the Nana Prize pace waiting for Taylor to have a “good” day too!   They have all been so bad, that the bonus points for the semis and finals for many of the cellar dwellers are not really in play so the next few classic bowl games will likely decide the Nana Prize.  What compelling dynamics this year. Two games today, one tomorrow and then we get to catch our breath.  Stay tuned for more in the days ahead!  We love AHFP Nation!

Sincerely,
The Chairman
