Day 2 is in the Books! No surprises on the field and none were really expected. That is reflected in the AHFP table.
Most of the talking heads in the sporting world indicted that the first round of the new National Championship tournament would be relatively noncompetitive. We always hope for some upsets to keep things real in the AHFP. Alas, nothing happened that would spur massive controversy within the AHFP ranks transpired. The way things are architected this year, if you make poor choices early, the implications could be extremely damaging to your chances at AHFP glory. As it sits after day 2, 27 of you good people are perfect going into the traditional bowl set starting next Saturday. Unlike historical AHFPs, everyone has wins after day 2 (24 with three wins, 16 with 2 wins). We’ll see how that plays out over the course of the rest of the tournament. So as we head into some of the more classic style bowl games, we are hopeful that those who dropped a few in the early stages of the tournament can make up for it with wins in the more traditional run of play! It is way too early to write anyone off and even speculation as to how the first round will impact the later rounds is really difficult, so I won’t even try. It is too early to hurt my brain…
We have a week to recover and prepare for the next run of games. Please enjoy the Christmas celebration – we hope you and your families are on Santa’s nice list. See you next week!

Sincerely,
The Chairman

Very merry and bright Christmas Holiday wishes to you and your wonderful family, Mr.
Chairman…and to all of the participants in what is truly the best College Football Holiday Pool
on the planet. It is on!!
The AHFP Rochester North Chapter have our loins girded for another run at the glory of the
Grand Championship, and like many of the other AHFP players, are off to a solid start. It goes
without saying. and because I am a dinosaur, it seems to me that the new playoff system and
the ongoing seedings structure lends itself to far too much predictability in the first round of the
tournament. The home teams, playing in front of over 100,000 fans, have such a huge…maybe
unfair advantage, especially at the cold-weather sites. Add to that, arguably the best two teams
in the nation (Oregon and Ohio State) will play each other next in the quarter finals, instead of
deeper into the tournament. Thankfully, we can now look forward to the upcoming slate of
regular bowl games where the drama of unpredictability will be far greater as we progress
through our little reindeer games. Regardless, it’s all good and much fun!
Thank you for all you do, Mr. Chairman! We all greatly appreciate it.
Oh……Ironically enough, yesterday evening I received a mis-delivered Amazon shipment of two
big boxes of CHALK addressed to the NCAA Football Headquarters in Indianapolis. Go figure.
Best regards,
Tim “Jim’ Kelley
It is a labor of love Tim “Jim” Kelley. We at PPP are excited for the novelty of the new format but are unsure the long-term implications. Additionally, we fully expect it to change next year too (maybe 16 team?). We won’t put anything past the NCAA in its drive for dollars….kinda like the 300 Round Pond/Rochester North crew.
Love,
The Chairman
