So, we kicked off the traditional portion of the AHFP on the 27th – it felt kinda good to be in a familiar place. After a year of this tournament thing, it always feels right when we have some traditional things sprinkled into the newness of the NCAA football scene. And, to make it even more fun, some of the teams that are included in the mix are unknowns to all but the most erudite of college football followers. I will say that there was a little barking from Deerfield, IL about not including a certain Big 10 team’s bowl participation in the AHFP. There may be the impression that we at PPP hear but do not listen to the AHFP faithful. I must admit, Devyn’s request as a Minnesota Gopher did not fall on deaf ears. I think next year we might consider games earlier in the Bowl season and even make some of them a bit personal. Nothing like blind faith to ruin a few submissions. Additionally, having a full week between the CFP games and the next games of the pool seems like a long wait – and since we need to get picks in early anyway, why the heck not. So my beautiful Goddaughter, you may get your wish…next year!
As for the games, I am not sure about you, but a game that runs up almost 100 points and over 1100 yards of offense is quite entertaining. Doesn’t matter if you’ve never heard of North Texas – though they led the nation in total offense averaging 507 yards per game. Throw in the fact that they are the “Mean Green”, sign me up for being a new fan. Crazy game over the Aztecs of San Diego St. As for the other games, I like when the SEC loses games, even though I usually pick them because of their “best conference” reputation. Missouri vs Virginia was about as fun as watching paint dry but the Cavaliers prevailed though the end of the game was really interesting with the walk-on QB getting the last play of the game for Missouri. The starting QB, which was their backup, got tagged pretty good and the officials made him leave the game to get checked for a concussion. So, some no-name comes in for the last play of the game with Missouri at the 20 yard line threatening to score. He actually tossed a nice ball into the end zone that the WR actually could have, maybe even should have caught it. Would have been a neat story. Sorry Mizzou. I did not stay awake for the Houston – LSU game. It seemed like it was a good one and another SEC team goes down.
The table looks pretty interesting with a really neat composition of players. We have a great mix of nine newbies and old school stalwarts all setting the pace with six wins out of seven possible. Mad props to first years Frank Via and our young Lincolnshire, IL “Candy” Kanes rolling as if they don’t feel the pressure of a 30+ year tradition. We’ll see how they hold up. Catherine Kelley is looking like she is seeking Nana Prize glory as the only contestant at the bottom of the table with two wins. Pretty shabby stuff and we are proud of you for it.
More intrigue to come in the days ahead! Visit us often to see the details.
Sincerely,
The Chairman

Haha! I’ve checked the PPP bylaws, and I’m pretty sure deploying a three-year-old with six Buzz Lightyears constitutes an ‘unfair advantage.’ That’s not a team; it’s a space force. Consider PPP nation warned—mostly because no one wants to encounter a stray LEGO or monster truck in the heat of battle!
To infinity and (hopefully) no injuries,
Kevin “Gird-the-Loins” Kelley
Dear Mr. Chairman,
Similar to the heart warming and loving memories of returning to the goodness of our childhood Homes
for the Holidays, it is with special fondness that the Rochester North Chapter celebrates the 30th
anniversary of your tireless efforts in producing the month-long PPP AHFP. I’m quite certain that we all
appreciate the technological improvements that you have made this year to seamlessly enter the picks
throughout the progression of the College Football Playoffs, but our true gratitude is reflected by the
tremendous energy and passion that you put forth in making this wonderfully traditional annual contest
among family and friends, both old and new, the best and most enjoyable football pool on the planet. I’m
not ashamed to say that I cherish it every year. Thank you for all that you, Mrs. Chairman and your Board
do to make this joyous season even more special!
That being said, and with the first round of the Playoffs completed, we now head to the absolute
crapshoot of the Traditional Bowl Games picks, where the action will become fast and furious. To that
end, the Rochester North Chapter players have all tucked up our long robes with a belt for freedom of
movement, to gird our loins for the battle and challenges that lay ahead. We will be prepared, make no
mistake about that. In addition, we welcome child prodigy three-year-old Harrison Paul Kelley (HPK), son
of Kevin and Marissa Kelley, to the Rochester North team. Don’t take him lightly, as he comes armed with
a fleet of monster trucks, other heavy duty construction equipment, and six versions of Buzz Lightyear!
As HPK says, “Rochester North Rules!!”
As I remove the tongue that has been firmly implanted in my cheek, may I sincerely wish good luck to
everyone in their chase to the glory of the 2025-2026 PPP AHFP Grand Championship….and the Nana
Prize. Have great fun and come back next year!
Best regards,
Tim “Jim” Kelley
p.s. Mr. Chairman….As information, we have our Brinks Truck warming up for the annual pick up for
Rochester North at 90 Windemere Road. Just saying.
Yes, Tim “Jim” Kelley, while you wallow in your typical mediocrity, we will try not to be too intimidated by HPK’s three wins (so far). He will kick our butts in due time. We at PPP take umbrage at you placing unnecessary pressure on the handsome three-year old. Proud Paps aside, he needs to grow into this kind of pressure, not have it bestowed upon him. We do not want to stunt his growth.
Respectfully,
The Chairman
